简介
Oh, So Nice features tunes from the Great American Songbook from George Gershwin to Stephen Sondheim, with innovative arrangements by pianist Betty Bullock and bassist Jon Nazdin, that give the listener an entirely new perspective. This disc explores the many expressions of love beyond the traditionally romantic: Lena Horne's "New-Fangled Tango" is by turns sultry and ironic; Leonard Bernstein's heartfelt “My House” (Peter Pan) contrasts with his "I can Cook Too" (On the Town), where a woman taxi-driver entices her passenger, a hapless sailor, with an increasingly desperate list of culinary skills; and "The Boy From" puts a sardonic spin on "The Girl from Ipanema.” There may a few surprises as you hear the less familiar intros to these very familiar songs. We hope you will enjoy listening as much as we have enjoyed recording these treasures. Rosa Lamoreaux
