The introduction and title track “Just Tryna Live” stands alone before the album breaks into its three stages. It is about being complacent with the world as it is, aspiring to be another footnote in history that college student won’t even care about reading. The second verse shows how the music can take control of a person and make them start to care about issues in life. It references some songs about social issues such as The G.A.M.E.’s song “The Purge” and Crooked I’s song “Nobody Cares” but also is still caught up in the trends of today such as Pusha T’s “Sweet Serenade”. The structure of the music is also symbolic of the type of artist I am. The song has live drums, horns, electric bass and also a long instrumental interlude. I believe in having faith in the listener to interpret messages through things other than lyrics, so this album will have guitar solos and instrumental interludes because I grew up listening to music with that type of structure. The song ends with an Organ piece that is symbolic of my first musical tours in the American South and Europe where I was fortunate enough to perform inside some amazing Cathedrals that housed some of the most legendary artists such as Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. These performances made me feel connected to the history of music and inspired me to write more authentic and heartfelt music. After the first track, the album splits into three parts, tracks 2-7 symbolize the life of a relationship that doesn’t work out but changes the person for the better. Tracks 8 and 9 are applying the things learned in that relationship to their new life. 10-12 is the new mature person trying to send a message to those who may be having trouble understanding life today. “Chillin With You” is the happy beginnings of a relationship; “Infatuation (6AM)” is the infatuation period that causes us to feel things we would never imagine. “Do You Love Me?” is the moment of wondering if the other person is as committed to a relationship as one’s self. “I Just Want to Love You” is deciding that maybe this relationship isn’t working out because two people are not on the same page in life or do not share the same dreams. “Cold Outside (Still Friends)” is looking back at the love that was shared and wishing the other person well, knowing that if they ever needed help, it would be no problem, because they were still a good soul. “Goodbye” is the transition from being sad about loosing a chance at love and moving on by remembering the good times. “Breathe” is growing from hard times, and looking at life each day thankful for the chance to go out and try to accomplish each day. “Get Money” is the continuation of that feeling, knowing that sadness can’t hold you back if you dig down inside yourself and overcome all obstacles. “Shocked the Globe” is the beginning of the final portion of the album, where the person in the beginning of the album has been through things in life that have made them a mature human who realizes they have to take control of this world. This song is about finding purpose in life, changing the world around you, and doing things that have a positive impact. “Love this Music” is my critique of the music industry as of today, and my request for it to try harder to have substance even though people steal music. “They Try to Take Heaven” is the final track that symbolizes a complete change from the person described in the beginning and is reaching out to others like him. You may have a hard road, and not enough money left over at the end of the month, but don’t let that struggle take away from you your humanity and your drive to leave a positive impact.
