Larry McWhorter's poetry is classic cowboy poetry written by a cowboy who loved and cherished a way of life that many dream about but to which few are called. Being a cowboy from the panhandle of Texas to the Grand Canyon in Arizona gave Larry a great deal of material on which to base his poetry. He wrote from his heart and his experience causing us to take a moment to ponder his poetic words and the life lessons woven therein. Larry McWhorter was not only one of the greatest cowboy poets of all time, but he was a friend of everyone he ever met, a loving husband and father and a cowboy through and through. My sincere thanks to Red Steagall, Andy Wilkinson, Andy Wilkinson, Andy Nelson, Chris Isaacs, Dennis Flynn, Gary McMahan, Oscar Auker, Jesse Smith, Andy Hedges and Waddie Mitchell for your help in bringing Larry's poem to life.
