Live Americana music is undergoing a resurgence in popularity, driven by the crucible of the Listening Room. Throughout the country in small clubs and community performance spaces, songwriters and musicians return to the roots of what they do best, playing live. Three Nights Live is a tribute to this legacy of the working musician. It’s reminiscent of Woody Guthrie’s sojourn across America and the roadhouses across the south. Real music that breathes. Part of Goose Creek Music’s ongoing series of live album releases, Three Nights Live was recorded over 4 days in November 2013 at three classic Southwest listening-room venues….McGonigel’s Mucky Duck in Houston, The Cactus Café located on the University of Texas’ Austin campus, and The Blue Door in Oklahoma City. With a cast featuring Rebecca Loebe, Smokey and the Mirror, and Raina Rose Three Nights Live features original songs from four songwriters, and a few surprising covers ranging from folk, to country, to Motown and grunge. Goose Creek toured with the artists, and recorded the performances in multi-track audio and video. A web video series about the sessions and the Artists’ lives as touring musicians will be released simultaneously with the album, along with individual EPs for Rebecca and Smokey and the Mirror featuring additional performances from the tour. Rebecca Loebe of Austin, Texas travels extensively throughout the US and around the world – in 2014 alone she has already performed dates in Holland and Japan! Rebecca’s warm and inviting aura radiates through her music, making her live performances an unforgettable experience. Her deep empathy and lyrical portrayal of characters from all walks of life bring audiences along on her journeys through love, geographic displacement and yearning. In Three Nights Live, (release date August 5, 2014), Rebecca teams up with fellow touring Americana artists Smokey and the Mirror and Raina Rose, and further demonstrates her talents by directing a unique performance project and occupying the Producer chair with the resulting recordings. Raina Rose is a California-born, Oregon-bred and now Austin, Texas-based songwriter who has been described as a “barefoot indie/folk mystic poet.” Raina has performed all over the USA and UK and conjures soundscapes with spiritual influences from Gillian Welch to Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Patty Griffin. Raina performs regularly with her bassist husband Andrew Pressman, and her blogs about motherhood and her musical life are published frequently by outlets including The Huffington Post. Smokey and the Mirror is headed up by husband and wife duo Bryan and Bernice Hembree. The Hembrees are also members of the Americana band Three Penny Acre, and have branched out with Smokey and the Mirror to express their Rock and Pop influences in a primarily acoustic ensemble. Echoes of Buddy Holly, The Indigo Girls and Bruce Hornsby are all evident in an upbeat and foot-tapping presentation.
