My name is Robert Poindexter, I am part of the writing and producing team of Poindexter/ Member Group. We are best known for writing and producing the hit song “thin line between love and hate” a song that was recorded by the Persuaders. We met Monroe when he was an up and coming recording artist on the RCA Victor Record Label. We wrote and produced his first hit a song call “We Gonna Bring The Country To The City. “This Song was a number one hit in Philly and Chicago. After losing his only son to a childhood illness, Monroe left the Music Business stating he had lost “the one person that made him happy”. Monroe joined the business community, where he became a successful business man for the next twenty years. One day while surfing the Internet, I discovered him on The Face Book Page. We begin to communicate and reminisce about the old days. He stated to me that his desire to write and sing had not diminished. I invited him to come to New York City, where he sang some of the songs he had written. I was impressed not only by the songs but also his vocals. He actually sounded better than the old days. Listen to his rendition of the title song “Recession Blues”, a song about what is happening in our society today. His songs “Smiling on the outside” and “I can’t stand being alone” tells stories about loneliness and being in love. Monroe wrote seven of the ten songs on this CD.
