I have been writing songs for more than forty years, only rarely performing them. This has created a curious environment, where the songs were created without much criticism or praise. My only standard was whether the song served the purpose for which it was sculpted. These songs are about love and death and the death of love; they are about infertility and comforting an infant, losing a child at birth and abandoning a young son; they are about deep friendships, the striving to make dreams come true and finding your God. They own me. The recordings could not have heppened but for Tim Gray. His patience (the album has taken over six years). sublime musicianship and wonderful friendship have carried them along.
