简介
ORIGINAL. INSPIRED. INSTRUMENTAL. "Out Tonight" is the product of years of hard work, thought, and practice from a collective of best friends. After forming a trio with New York City guitarist Woody Quinn and drummer Russ Kleiner, bassist/composer Sam Howard created and compiled this group of songs. Songs written about beautiful places (Highway 53), exciting observations (MTV, Brand New You), beloved belongings (Blue 92, Donut Holes) and personal reflection (One Last Time, Just How We Are). Some of the material the group had played live for years; some was brand new for the recording session. The record is based on the group's longtime philosophy that the trio serves as the core, and other musicians may be added and subtracted at will to accommodate different compositions and create a variety of sonic textures. Thus, "Out Tonight" features several different musicians in addition to a constant trio. At the heart of the sound: Sam Howard-bass Woody Quinn-guitar Russ Kleiner-drums Lending their wonderful talent: Brian Robertson-keys Kenji Shinagawa-guitar Myk Freedman-lap steel Kevin Russell-saxophone The album was recorded on two sweltering days in August 2006, and all tracks were recorded LIVE @ Symmetry Sound, Brooklyn by group friend and one of NYC's hottest emerging engineers, Tommy Harron. Each song was captured within a few takes, and it is the group's desire that you hear the love, care, heat and hard work they put into this record.
