I use music to express feeling and reactions to the world around me.While poetry and songwriting is a passion for me and one that I would do anyway I like to think that someone, somewhere might listen to the lyrics and find an assimiliation with their own life experiences and even help them on their journey. As we are all on a journey of sorts I see this as one thing one does and like minded people attune to.So this art form for me is cathartic process and one that has helped me understand love and relationships and what it is to be individual in this world and say what you mean ( a rare thing I find) .I therefore place more emphasis on the lyric content ,on whats being said rather than being a perfectionist.I don't give in to the latest trends easily and prefer to let my songwriting dictate to me the what is important "now" and the way a song needs to be presented. I see a journey once you start to write your own songs and I am happy treading that path. I am driven by a need to "put it out there" at the moment and join the millions of other siongwriters who want to express their life experiences through music.A song left in the cupboard seems a waste to me . I dabble in various types of music and started writing instrumental voilin scripts but I wanted to use the power of the written word and so switched to this form of presentation. This is a diversion from my first album with Sally which was a voilin instrumental album.I grew up listening to great songwriter and am a great admirerer of Bob Dylan and this influence may be tangible in my style at times although I believe my 'brand' is somewhat different and perhaps more naive and idealistic .This album gives me a opportunity to say what I feel about things that are important to me.I tend to write directly from the heart and seldom change a song after the initial burst of creative energy even when it might reveal more about me than I'd perhaps want others to know.To be aware of ones limitations in this field is humbling but it is not a reason for exclusion or to give up. To reachout to people you don't know with a song you wrote from the heart is certainly intimidating but probably the greatest gift one can give. To put yourself up for criticism is the price you have to pay for this exercise but that is one that I am not afraid of. I hope when people listen to my music that you will give the lyrics and wheil to settle in before judging the album.

Now a bit about the album.The album cover song 'Fire Mountain"was written after the 911 event and I have taken the point of view of the people trapped in those buildings."Reborn" and "Crystal Shore" and "Flowers" were written after I went through divorse and was emerging into a songwriter(at least thats what I thought) Others songs on the album are reflective of myself and loves I have met along the way."Who You Are" is a good example of this.The final song "Endless Vision' is a little spiritual as I find that people who stay true to their heart find that regardless of what happens to them there is a vision in their head that is urging them forward.Perhaps thats what we all are searching for.
