简介

"Someone's Awake" Recorded 2004-05 at Jake's Lair Chicago, IL Written, Performed and Produced by Travis Dow Acoustic-based, natural, introspective, heartfelt, melodic...if these are words that ring true to you, check out the second solo studio album by Travis Dow. From the direct opening strains of "Landing" (actually written in 1991 in Lafayette, CA) to the final country flourish of "Kootenay Breakdown" (named after a region in the Canadian Rockies), this album recalls singer/songwriters as diverse as John Denver, Bruce Springsteen and Glen Phillips(Toad the Wet Sprocket). BIO: With a popular debut album under his belt, and a charting single with his former band, Cal Hollow, Travis Dow is equally at home writing intricate pop melodies and country story-songs. A 2001 move from Nashville to Chicago finds him working with several artists & writers, including serving as guitarist/vocalist in piano-pop phenom Katie Todd's band. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Travis has a degree in Theatre Arts from Humboldt State University, where he fronted several bands before creating Cal Hollow in San Francisco in 1997. The band's first album, Two Bulb Twilight, on Jericho/Sire Records, was helmed by Grammy-winning Producer John Porter (The Smiths, B.B. King), and included the single "No Mercy", which generated substantial airplay both in the U.S. and abroad. Winner of several songwriting contests, Travis further explored his country/folk roots while living in Nashville, and still performs yearly at the Folk Alliance Festival in cities across the US and Canada. Whether writing with acoustic or electric guitar in hand, he manages to merge honest, meaningful lyrics with everything from catchy, rootsy pop to traditional country ballads. *Debut album (with Cal Hollow), Two Bulb Twilight, was released in May '99 and was produced by 4-time Grammy Award winner John Porter (The Smiths, B.B. King, Keb Mo', Bonnie Raitt) on Jericho/Sire Records. *Appears on The Katie Todd Band's Changing Faces, LIVE, and Make Some Time For Wasting albums, produced by Blaise Barton (Liz Phair, Ike Reilly). *Has produced and toured behind two successful solo albums, 100% Handmade (2003) and Someone's Awake (2005) *Interviews & features in Gavin Magazine. Articles and reviews in the San Francisco Weekly, Examiner and the Times, the Chicago Reader, and various newspapers throughout the U.S. *Airplay on over 50 radio stations in more than 20 states, including Chicago's WXRT, San Francisco's KLLC, WXPT Minneapolis, and FM-100 Memphis
