简介
Lofi and swirling in psychedelia, this album is the debut offering from Kristo, the producer and brainchild behind Big Muddy Records. "Happy Camp," a literal reference to a frame of mind that facilitates healing and growth, was created in an attempt to punctuate a year of heartbreak and death. It is the result of concentrated emotion released through music and incorporating elements of magick, pagan healing rituals, and the ongoing tradition of American music. What do you do when your perspective has tunneled and all that you see is nothingness? You look for redemption in love, friendship, and art. "Happy Camp" is one artist's attempt to soothe demons and claim his spot in the cycle of resurrection. Kristo is the working name of Chris Baricevic, who has been producing and helping to incubate musicians and bands under the Big Muddy Records brand. He has worked both in and out of the recording studio with artists like Rum Drum Ramblers, Bob Reuter's Alley Ghost, Jack Grelle, the Hooten Hallers, and Pokey LaFarge. His songs have been recorded by the Hooten Hallers ("Outer Space", "40 oz. to Memphis") and Pokey LaFarge ("Anita", "Daffodil Blues"). He has cultivated a unique tight knit scene in St. Louis, MO that injects power and soul into a trove of country, blues, folk, and rock music.
