Sometimes the darkness or night of our lives is so intense that we feel there is no escape. If we walk in faith and trust God with our situation anything is possible. Psalm 30 verse 5 says it best: Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning. For booking information please contact www.wallelarsson.com As a Winnipeg Musician and sax player I've had the opportunity to play and create music for many years. Concerts form New York to Tokyo and back and forth across Canada have been a highlight. Composing music for film and TV has been fun but live performance is where it's at for me. Currently my position as entertainment co-ordinator at Assiniboine Park has afforded many opportunities. Our band has performed with the likes of Brian Hughes, Liberty Silver, Les Sabler, Demo Cates and others. Earlier in my career I had the chance to perform with Mel Torme. Tony Bennet, David Clayton Thomas and Toronto R@B group The Lincolns. The music business is a never ending cycle of trends that come and go. Fortunately for those of us involved in smooth contemporary jazz there is a common basis of rhythm and melody that stand the test of time.Being involved in the same style of music since my teenage years has afforded me the opportunity of specializing in my chosen genre. Having composed music and produced half a dozen cds of the music I love has indeed been a pleasure. My next CD "Beaches" will be released at the Winnipeg Art Gallery August 12/10....see you there! Recently some my original band has been getting back together for some concerts. These are the guys I took to New York years ago and performed at the Toronto and Montreal jazz festivals with. I'm working on a new cd. I have some tunes I've put together over the past few years that have never been released. Together with a few new compositions I think we'll have a new taste of the Walle Larsson sound within a few months. "Beaches - Walle Larsson: For many years, Walle Larsson has tirelessly toiled as the chief standard bearer for smooth jazz in the Canadian heartland. Going back as far as 1990, Larsson has issued a string of four well-received release while additionally for over a decade he's promoted the genre that he loves as a radio show host, thru live appearances, and as the booking agent for a series of in the park concerts at "The Lyric" band shell, Winnipeg's premier outdoor venue in Assiniboine Park. Now a polished veteran, Larsson is set to deliver his latest, an ultra-smooth blend that may well become one of the break-thru releases for the year. From that yet to be titled and soon to be released effort, we have a great tune which may in fact become the title track - it's called Beaches and we know you're gonna luv it!! " — Ted Hasiuk, Jazz Lynx Cafe Jazz Radio More in the pocket in terms of the expected sax approach is the fresh out of Canada detonations of Walle Larsson, who punches forward in the Tom Scott-L.A. Express funk-rock vein with a peek Behind the Storm. Already a hit in Canada in seeking distribution in the States, this edgy mix of fire and ice puts Larsson on the road to chart competition alongside similar minded sax icons like Dave Koz and Warren Hill. Because he has yet to be at the mercy of a major label, Larsson has the advantage of letting things roll for up to and over six minutes, building smoothly with memorable melodies before delving into in your face jams with various electric guitarists. He touches on the best of both worlds, recalling a familar, friendly edge but also unafraid to let things rip somewhere around the fourth minute. Though his slamming alto is his instant trademark, the tenderness he conveys on sweeteners like "You Told Me So" hint towards first class balladry as well. Now if only his principal co-writer and producer Mario Parent would have had the ego check to eliminate his own bland vocals, this would be near perfect. ~ Jonathan Widran, All Music Guide
