简介

The days of rollin' up to a park, settin' up some 1200's and rockin' a crowd are over. That was last century, that's "old school". Now anyone with a computer can be a producer or MC. As the quantity goes up the quality goes down. Yet there are always exceptions to the rule, and well Trenz, Tone Lab, J-Shah and Wyzard of 97% Entertainment threw the book out the window and rewrote it. With a debut album and DVD, Emcees of Mass Destruction not only show there skill on the mic but there skills on the stage as well. With heavy drum patterns and smooth beats, battle rhymes and lyrics boasting the best in Pittsburgh. These guys live up to they hype. And yet accept there weaknesses like on the head bobbin track "The Wyz" "I'm the only white boy in the game that acts white, I'm the only producer in the city that is tight, I'm the only producer in this game that can't write, you think ill get props in this city? Yea right!" It's a rare occurrence in hip hop where a rapper lets his guard down unless you're Eminem in 8 mile, but in Steele city all you have is your word and 97% don't break it for no one. On "Get Loose" Trenz spits a true to life motto that if you focus on your dreams there bound to come true. Upon first glance you see 25 tracks and you may judge the book by the cover, but when one track flows right into the next, with hot beats full of flutes, horns, and catchy hooks after 120 min. you're bound to just push the repeat button and experience it all over again. I know I did. Always "Steady Fully Ready" just lets you know how 97% Entertainment gets down, willing to battle anyone even in the temple of doom, J-Shah sets the record straight that Persian rappers are here to stay, and ain't no one gonna stop him and the rest of the crew from taking over one boom box at a time. Time is money and there's no wasting it. Always on the grind and with there hand in everything, from opening for Q-Unique, Arcane, and freestyle champion Shells, and a host of others as well as making music videos for Breakdown TV, this crew is becoming a power house in Pittsburgh. They stay independent so they can control there own destiny, they learned early to conform is to not be true to yourself. If you're looking for raps about how many guns they got or the type of rims these guys are runnin' on you're in for a surprise. Trenz proves his skills on "The Passion" when it rains it pours, he's dedicated to this rap sh*t, and is not out for rollin on spinners' more like makein' killers. Review by Habit
