Zwill is a rapper, filmmaker, producer, actor and writer from Berkeley, CA, where he cofounded the Cone Squad rap and filmmaking collective with his creative partner Zukko. Over the past several years, he and his collaborative team have expanded their horizons to include an unprecedented variety of styles and subject material. In his debut album, Zwill draws on diverse musical influences, combining instrumentation and melodic composition from groups like the Beatles with modern conventions of hard core trap music such as booming 808 kick drums and rhythmically complex hi hat patterns. His lyrical content ranges from the tongue-in-cheek bragging of "C-3P0" and "Up In Steam" to the relaxed and carefree crooning of "101 North" and "Float Sweet" to the layered and intricate narrative of "Run." Unlike most artists, Zwill oversaw and executed every detail of the album. In addition to producing every beat and writing vocals for each track, Zwill engineered every studio recording session with his guest artists and also acted as the head sound technician during the mixing and mastering of the album, a role which is rarely, if ever, played by the main artist himself. Additionally, the album cover is an original photograph made by Zwill with a 35 mm black and white film camera and edited digitally to include the CD text and the RIAA warning logo.
