Formerly with the female acoustic trio "Rebecca Riots", Andrea established herself as a passionate and talented vocalist as well as a nuanced songwriter back in the 1990's. In the time after the Riots, Andrea returned to her life as a history teacher and her work with Berkeley Copwatch. So what about the music? This short little album was put together right before Andrea went on her first trip to Palestine. It is full of emotion and all of the political allusions you could ask for. The tunes were inspired by the start of the Iraq war, the anti war movement, her 20 year friendship with a prisoner on San Quentin's death row and the movement to end incarceration. Some of the songs are direct and sweet; others are dramatic sketches of resistance and endurance that are all the product of hard experience. Notice the gems embedded in these songs: Shelley Doty plays her heart out on an acoustic guitar and the mastery of her instrument is striking, especially on "Ashanti".

Other gems include Green Huse' pristine and tasteful back up vocals, Lisa Zeiler's guitar rhythms and the Pledge of Resistance. This was originally a piece that was created to encourage resistance to the 2003 invasion of Iraq and it was written as a collaboration that included Saul Williams and Starhawk.
