简介

Eurydice’s Kaleidoscope –CD Release “If eyes are the window to the soul, then it can be said that music is the key to the heart...” Eurydice's Kaleidoscope is a peek into the enigma of a beautiful mind. Through composition and performance, musician, Seleno Crocker (Sal), captures the raw essence of his wife; Eurydice's vision on life...her kaleidoscopic vision on life. God has truly blessed Sal with his very own angel. Eurydice, pronounced (You-rid-da-see) has a natural, unorthodox and unparalleled vision with no filters, just a kaleidoscope; Eurydice’s Kaleidoscope would not have been possible without her. This album encompasses the passion and vision of two people that are lovers, soul mates and best friends. They dare to dream beyond limits and expose ordinary human inhibitions. What makes this story even more interesting is that his wife Eurydice was named after the infamous Eurydice from the dramatic love story “Orpheus and Eurydice” (Black Orpheus) from Greek mythology. Orpheus was the God of music and Eurydice was his wife. It was love at first sight between Orpheus and Eurydice, paralleling the connection between Sal and Eurydice, when they laid eyes on each other for the first time. Both Eurydices personify a beauty beyond yours that both Orpheus and Sal could not deny. Apollo, the father of Orpheus, gave Orpheus a lyre and taught him how to play. This Greek myth states that no one could resist his music, neither enemies nor beasts. Even trees and rocks were entranced with his music. But in reality, this is Sal’s truth. When he begins to play, everyone and everything around him, is fixated on every note he plays. One day, Eurydice was wandering in the forest with the Nymphs, when Aristaeus, a shepherd saw her and was beguiled by her beauty. He made advances towards her and began to chase her. As Eurydice sprinted through the forest, attempting to flee, she was tragically bitten by a snake and died instantly. Orpheus painfully sang his grief with his lyre throughout the land. Both humans and gods were deeply touched by his sorrow and grief. Finally, Apollo advised his son to descend to Hades to try and persuade Pluto, the god of the Underworld, to bring his wife back to life. Orpheus presented himself in front of the god Pluto and his wife Persephone. Orpheus instantly started to play for them. Even the cold heart of Hades started melting, due to the melodies coming from Orpheus’ lyre. Hades told Orpheus that he could take Eurydice with him but under one condition; Eurydice would follow behind him while walking out to the light from the caves of the Underworld, but he should not look at her before coming out to the light and if he did, he would lose her forever. He wanted to test Orpheus’s trust in him. If Orpheus was patient enough he would have Eurydice as a normal woman again on the otherside. Orpheus was so delighted; he thanked the gods and left to ascend to the world. He walked very softly trying to hear Eurydice’s steps, but he could not hear anything. He started believing that the gods had fooled him. Of course Eurydice was behind him, but as a shadow, waiting to come to light to become a full woman again. Only a few feet away from the exit, Orpheus was so afraid that his beautiful wife Eurydice was not going to exit with him, he lost his faith and turned to see. At that very moment her shadow was quickly whisked back among the dead and Eurydice was gone forever. Orpheus desperately tried several times to return to the Underworld, but a man cannot enter the Hades twice while alive. Orpheus began playing a mourning song with his lyrecalling for death to reunite him with his Eurydice forever. He would rather be dead than to live his life without his beloved Eurydice. Eventually Orpheus died but the Muses decided to save his head and keep it among the living people to sing forever, enchanting everyone with the lovely melodies and tones. Sal is Eurydice's Orpheus, a skilled musician whose story has charmed the curiosity of the modern music industry. As Orpheus used his lyre to gain entrance into the heart of Hades, Sal uses his saxophone to gain entrance into the hearts and minds of his audience.
