Ever since I was a little girl, I've had this push and pull with God. I found it hard to believe that the entire universe could hang within the span of His almighty hand. Plus, there were times that I watched the people I loved suffer for what made little to no sense to me. And I couldn't find a place in my heart, a shelf, to put all the questions on. So I wrote songs.

You may have heard it said that unexpressed doubt can be toxic. But I've known people who just can't seem to find the words to say what they need to say. All the great songwriters, artists and storytellers of our time, they use words, images and melodies. They've gathered them up together and give a voice to this massive collection of unexpressed doubts, fears, tragedies and triumphs. Well, I'm adding to the noise.

I'm come to expect the push and pull. Things go array and we instinctively push God away. But then I sit at my keyboard and I turn my questions, my doubts and my praise into a song. And He pulls me close. I push, He pulls. That's the deal. And living in that tension is a part of life. That's The Push and Pull.
