The debut collaboration from Toki Wright & Big Cats, Pangaea, is due out September 23rd, but the duo's inventive new sound has already been garnering critical acclaim following the release of several singles, a tour with Atmosphere, and a performance at Soundset. The album takes a more experimental approach to hip hop, blending live instrumentation, intricate synth work, and programmed sounds to create lush, constantly evolving backdrops to showcase Wright's impressive range as an MC and poet. The album features guest appearances from P.O.S., BJ The Chicago Kid, Caroline Smith, and more. Wright has gained notoriety internationally as an artist on Rhymesayers Entertainment and his imprint Soul Tools. He has had multiple music videos featured on MTV, charted in the top 100 on iTunes, collected over 1 million view on youtube, acted in a feature film, and more. Producer/DJ Big Cats is the youngest and only Hip-Hop artist to receive a Composers Fellowship from the American Composers Forum. His solo album, For My Mother, was named a top 5 local release by Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, City Pages, and Vita.mn in 2012. In addition to his work with Wright, he has produced for the likes of Smoke DZA, P.O.S., Sage Francis, Planet Asia, and many more.
