Dracula Hormone is the medical Industry's affectionate name for melatonin, since it assists a human sleeping at night, in ode to the novel written by Bram Stoker. The title symbolizes perfectly the "bats in the belfry" and "stars in the midnight sky" mood Miss Van Wyk strove for. Sarah Van Wyk envisioned an album which married Danny Elfman's dark playfulness to Hans Zimmer's sharpness and the heavy influence of spooky that James Newton Howard utilizes in so many of his scores. NYC-based composer Julian Blackmore rose to the occasion, composing piano pieces which brought this vision to full bloom. The inspiration of these three composers can be easily heard in all of the songs on Dracula Hormone. With brilliant lyrical content and the dark timbre that is the trademark of soprano Van Wyk, the album is much favored by the Dark Alternative, Gothic and Rock/Metal communities.
