简介
Spurred on by encouragement from the burgeoning fan base for his solo material, these new records show a folkier, more introspective and emotionally raw side to Hall's songwriting skills on what is a beautiful and at times heart-wrenchingly honest collection of new tracks. Whilst nods to his rock heroes in bands like Reuben, Coheed & Cambria and City & Colour are still looming large, Hall's new material contains a big helping of country, folk and blues inspiration from songwriting greats like Loudon Wainwright iii, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell. The result is a folk-infused, blue-collar heart-on-sleeve offering that has more in common with contemporaries like Frank Turner, Dave Hause and Rob Lynch. Much of the new material deals with the transition from his youth spent in touring bands to the realities of an adult life. Whether it's the pressures of finance, confronting our own and our loved ones mortality, or examining the intricate relationships that we forge with one another, it's evident that Halls has found a new voice as an astute and powerful songwriter who's not afraid to tackle complex emotions.
