Playing not so iconic, crossover jazz after a lifetime of work in various areas of the music industry, Derek Harris has acquired a vast background in performing arts and production. Inspired by David Sanborn and Bela Fleck Derek has 28 years of experience, and has become a noted saxophone player, composer and audio engineer. His musical and performing skills leave audiences wanting more as they appreciate the outstanding quality of his music and the fun he brings to the stage. As an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) member, Derek has composed and produced music for international advertising agencies and major corporations as well. His client list includes the likes of Ford Motor Company, See-Doo, Norwegian Cruise Lines, J. Walter Thompson Advertising and Prelude Pictures — a subsidiary of Paramount Pictures. His skills as an audio engineer and composer have also earned him a place on the production sets for Budweiser, Cover Girl, Ocean Spray, and The Cape, a UPN television series. Derek currently lives with his wife Jeri, in Estero, Florida and is an assistant pastor at a local church in nearby Fort Myers.
