简介

Born in Philadelphia into a family where music was their first language, Tony began his musical journey at an early age. By the time Tony was 7 years old, he was playing the piano and trombone. At the age of 10, Tony received a Christmas present, which would change the course of his musical career, a bass guitar. This gift would become his signature instrument. By the age of 12, he began playing and singing with the family musical group, “The McLendon Family”. His parents, Elders Goldwire (Runner Up on B.E.T.’s Sunday Best season 3) and Ruth McLendon are the founding members of the legendary Gospel group, “Savettes Choral Group” whose signature song, “Sunshine Follows Rain” is known throughout the Northeast Gospel circuit. During his teenage years, Tony became well known throughout Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and the Delaware areas, honing his gift while ministering in the area churches. Later in his career, Tony had the honor of working and/or performing with legendary singers James Ingram, Martha Munizzi, Donna Summer (Tony was featured on the song “Let There Be Peace” on Donna Summers’ “Mistaken Identity” CD), Tata Vega and Gladys Knight. In a surprising moment, he was called out of a concert audience to sing with legendary songstress, Patti Labelle. He has toured with André Crouch, ministering to thousands throughout the United States, Europe and South Africa. Tony is featured on the song “Searching” on the soon to be released CD of the Legendary Ms. Melba Moore. Tonys originative artistry on bass guitar has made him a man in demand. He played for "The World Famous Harlem Gospel Choir's" Sunday Gospel Brunch at the renowned BB King Blues Club and Grill in Manhattan New York for three years and is currently the bass player on staff in the music department of World Changers Church New York, Pastors Creflo and Taffi Dollar.
