简介
Like the explosion of fire to ice, Maine Attraction arrives on the scene as Hip Hops Turf Minister extraordinaire. His rhymes light the pavement where pimps, playas and hustlers roam leaving a trail of bobbin heads, smiling faces, and renewed minds. His mission is to rebuild his community, inspire all that come into his presence, and exhibit Gods love using HIP HOP. Maine Attraction exposes his heart and his life on his sophomore album He Cant Break Us. Unafraid to surpass the boundaries of a Gospel Artist, Maine Attraction allows his audience to live a part of his world and walk with him through personal journeys of pain, love, mistakes, and real life issues that affect us all. Better Off, perhaps the most controversial song on the album, renders the image of an imperfect man striving for excellence while battling personal demons. Powerful and eclectic, Maines style fuses politics with poetry and religion with spunk, creating tunes that will no doubt be celebrated worldwide. Fans will be able to relate to Maine because his music is a reflection of himself. He is a father, brother, son, activists, visionary, a man, a man after Gods own heart. His ministry extends well beyond the music industry. As a youth organizer since high school, Maine has been instrumental in affecting city ordinances, school policy, and transportation issues affecting youth in Oakland. In 2002, he implemented R.E.A.L. H.A.R.D. (Representing Educated Active Leaders Having A Righteous Dream), a youth organizing. project of Kids First! Oakland that combines hip hop with politics to create the ultimate social justice voice for young people. Maine creates his music to restore communities and reclaim brothers and sisters from the streets. In 2003, God gave Maine Attraction the vision to carry out his mission. He created Turf Ministries, a collaboration of artists that uses their talents to minister directly to even the darkest streets of the San Francisco Bay Area. Traveling by foot, car, or most notably an 18ft traveling stage, Turf Ministries blesses the hood with music, fun, and plenty of food for the soul. Born and raised on the streets of EAST OAKLAND, CA by shepherd Rev. Larry Ashley and Gloria Ashley, Jermaine realized he was like his father but would not be a typical minister. He dedicated his life to Christ in 2000 and now proclaims, Im a Turf Minister, the streets is my pulpit. You can find me Turf Hoppin in ghettos throughout the world. His first CD Thug 4 God in 2002, was a true testament to Maines journey in becoming a soldier for Christ. Making a lot of noise on the gospel scene, this album opened the door for many opportunities for the rising artist. He has ministered and performed throughout California with popular artists including Agerman, gospel recording trio Prezence out of Detroit, Sevin, comedian J-Red, Jus-B-Cuz, and many more. He has appeared at numerous churches and venues including Bridging the Gap and the Shasta Fair and has been broadcast at The Light Candle, T.V. Gospel Show The Word, on world renowned radio station 106.1 KMEL with Tinka and the, and received reviews in the San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland Tribune, and Contra Costa Times for his music and community work. Just as Jesus was a revolutionary yet misunderstood by religious leaders of hes time, Maine is motivating todays generation through music. His passion and commitment to produce influential music is liberating. When asked to describe his rhyme style Maine uses this analogy, Picture a young Martin Luther King Jr. with some Jordons on, a microphone in his hand, spitting over hardcore street banging beats. Thats me the MAINE ATTRACTION! Glory Be To GOD!
