Filmmaker Abdul Malik Abbott also co-founder of the Soul Music band B.O.S.S goes by the name DJ ABBY AB when he produces music. This album, in which a lot of the tunes are featured on the soundtrack to a short film "Balance of Power", is a fusion of R&B, Soul, EDM/Dance, electronica, spoken-word and hip-hop music. "Feel me now", features award-winning singer Lugo taking the lead in this piano-driven, bitter sweet love song with a tasty horn and string arrangement interwoven throughout the tune. "Showtime" features young, New York rapper TK: The Artist in this adult flavored relationship rap tune layered on top of a bed of smooth soul music with a hint of a reggae flavor in the drums arrangement. "Right Now" is a instrumental track that balances a smoothed out soul composition with an up-beat, horn-driven interjection during the track. "Speaking my Language" features power-house singer/song writer KIA MUZE in this high-energy love song that DJ ABBY AB calls Swing Out Sister meets a Justin Timberlake/Timbaland composition. With his love for melodies and bass & drums, DJ ABBY AB's musical influences and roots stem from the Philly Soul, Barry White, Marvin Gaye and Isaac Hayes flowing through with touches of Soul II Soul, Sade, Seal, Chic, Tears for Fears, Living Colour, Paul Weller, Pharrell Williams and Timbaland. ABBY AB is also influenced heavily by maestro John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra. All of these styles and influences can be heard throughout all of his compositions. "Gratias" is a sexy tune that marries a reggae-flavored rhythm track with East Indian percussion instruments with melodic guitars & keys. "Foxy One" is a nod to Curtis Mayfield and 70's soul music. "Garbage in the Trash" is a fun, upbeat, EDM-style tune with a taste of NY house music. "Interlude" is a Bossa Nova influenced musical journey with sampled vocals to create a smooth, melody-driven composition. "Grateful" is a spoken-word piece with poet Yazmin Moñet Watkins set to jazzy, soulful music with beautiful guitar licks sprinkled throughout. The album also features instrumental versions of the vocalized tunes.
