简介
"The art of the singer-songwriter seems to be slowly fading away. Granted there are those musicians whose songs can successfully carry the weight of decades of stories and compressed rhythmic lineages, but in recent years, it appears they are the exception and not the rule. And for musicians such as Charleston, South Carolina-based Johnny Delaware, this dwindling tradition is what makes their music so necessary and relevant. On his latest single, "Time," he channels the spirits of '70s songwriters like Jim Croce and John Denver without displaying any of the artifice that usually accompanies music that tries too hard to evoke a certain period of time. For Delaware, though, it's simply an extension of his earnest and forthright nature—there's nothing there to hide. Everything is exposed: nerves, muscle and sinew laced with a longing for times when songs were less the product of mass commercialism and more a conduit for honest emotion and the passing of history from one generation to the next." - Nooga
