Recorded in Portland, Oregon and released in 2015, “Castletown” Live at Alberta St Pub" captures the energy of the group before a live audience featuring Robert Richter on guitar and vocals, Olivia Duffy on fiddle, mandolin and vocals and Casey McBride on drums and percussion. Influences include 1960's UK bands Fairport Convention and The Pentangle They are known for taking traditional Celtic and Folk songs and performing them in their unique upbeat style they call "Renegade Celtic Folk Rock, Castletown breaks out with high energy arrangements of Rakes of Kildare, Lily of the West, Santy Anno and Drunken Sailor. The CD also features original songs from the group including "Can't See The Lighthouse," telling the tale of fishermen trying to find their way home through a terrible storm and "I Searched For You in Dublin Town," the story of a young man's search for a busker he met by chance in Hyde Park London. The group has been lighting up stages around the Pacific Northwest with performances at the Yachats Celtic Music Festival, LaGrande Celtic Festival and Highland Games, Northwest Folklife in Seattle, Portland and Eugene Saturday Markets, and Galway Bay Irish Pub in Ocean Shores, WA. In 2015 they are set to perform at a number of festivals around the Northwest. Native Portlander Richter began teaching himself guitar at the age of 12 when he purchased a Sears "Silvertone" guitar from a neighbor for $5 and the promise to mow his lawn for a month. Over the years Richter has become known as a versatile singer/songwriter and guitarist writing the original Celtic influenced songs appearing on Castletown’s CD. Olivia Duffy is also a native Portlander and a talented fiddler, mandolin player and singer. She has recorded and performed around the Pacific Northwest and performs with a number of music projects in various genres and styles. Casey McBride also from Portland is well known as a versatile drummer and percussionist performing in multiple projects.
