简介
The 6th Volume of a collection of rock tunes by various artists from the 1960s to the 2010s that represent 50 years of rock & roll history and its evolving change. Some tunes were nationally charted hits while others were regional favorites. “A Girl Just Like You” by Barrelhouse Bob Page is a an uplifting tune about finding your fantasy girlfriend and how well you’re going to love and treat her after she’s yours. “Don’t Just Look” by Delanna Brody is about a common dilemma at singles bars where a girl can tell a guy likes her but is too shy to speak to her not aware she’s dying to hook up with him. “The Condom Man” this is the original release by Big Al Jano that was a politically incorrect college hit in 1987 when everyone was so paranoid about contracting the AIDS virus. People Magazine was planning a three page spread on Big Al and his band but it was pulled because of controversy even though an alternative version was released that was not “insensitive”. “Hold On” was a 1977 arena rock hit written by Scott Marks and performed live by Danny Deese with the band, Starfoxx. This is the original studio version of the tune that pleads to be thankful for whatever you’ve got and not to lose it in search of something you just imagine is better. “I Wish You Very Well” by Schmaltz is a song about running into an old love that you haven’t gotten over yet. You wish them well even though you’re heartbroken and haven’t moved on. “The Kid’s A Punk” by Rockin’ Rick Ware is about the kid at school that shaves his head, starts fights and hassles the girls and is always acting like a bad a**. Just about everyone in school knows about one. “Psychedelic Illusion” by Little Phil & The Night Shadows is a track off their 1968 psychedelic classic, The Square Root of Two” a vinyl album that sells for around $ 3000 in mint condition with the enclosed 45 single to high rolling vinyl record collectors. The Night Shadows are considered the most innovative group to come out of the Deep South during the 1960s when most of the progressive bands at that time were from San Francisco. Their singles are selling for hundreds. “Rockit & Rollit” (Live) was a release by the Feel, a punk band during the late 1970s and early 1980s with Delanna Brody providing the lead vocals. The group’s composition was 50% Californian and 50% Southern giving them a “metal sound” with a soulful feel. “Elevator” performed by Little Erv and Helene when they were lead singers for the Night Shadows was released in late 1961. After Chubby Checker re-released “The Twist” by Hank Ballard & the Midnighters in 1960, records with new dances such as “The Mashed Potatoes” and “The Swim” were the trend for the next three years. The “Elevator” was also a new dance that had limited success locally in 1962. “Never Gonna Give It Up” performed by Bill Sheffield and Liane Webb is a tune about never giving up on what you have a passion for, but continue to pursue your dreams.
