Singer and composer Moa Killander has played and written her own music since childhood. Over the years, she has participated in a number of theatre plays as a musician, composer and singer and also recorded music for film, television and choirs. Although grown up in Stockholm, she has spent long periods abroad and toured with choirs and theatre plays in countries such as Israel, Portugal and the Czech Republic. But it was only when she moved to the deep forests of Western Dalecarlia to explore the treasures of Swedish folk music that she found the inspiration for her first solo album Sången Efter Stormen (Songs After The Storm) in 2006. This delicate collection of personal and sensitive songs, performed only with vocals and her guitar, was recorded by renowned musician and sound engineer Mats Hellberg. Since the release of the album, she has performed live at festivals and venues all over Sweden and at the same time complemented her compositional skills with theoretical music studies in the classical tradition.

In the spring of 2007 Killander was commisioned to set music to poems by Nobel-prize winning Swedish poet Erik Axel Karlfeldt. Among those poems, Blommornas Kärlek (Love of the flowers), dedicated to florist Carl von Linneaus, received particular attention and was performed live on Swedish television by Killander and pianist Daniel Lantz. Today, Lantz, as well as fiddle player Mia Jones and cellist Emeli Jeremias, have become her steady co-musicians, and she actively composes vocal music in Swedish as well as English.
