简介

Fortune shined on Christian Pschorr (“Shore”) in the 1980’s when the company he worked for announced severance packages up for grabs. He left corporate life and never looked back. Christian began to play with whomever he could. The bands and endless practicing throughout his school years began to pay off. Mostly, he taught lessons and became a hired gun for post punk bands in New York—bands that had difficulty finding guitar players unencumbered with derelict tendencies. He played with obscure bands like Dog Felt Days, Social Insecurity, the Shaved Pigs, Bone, and the Squirrels from Hell (whose motto was “Protect Your Nuts.”) He landed a number of studio jobs, and toured the East Coast with Off-Broadway musicals like “Dream Dream Dream,” an Everly Brothers’ tribute, and “Always Patsy Cline.” The infamous drummer Richard DeBonis introduced him to jazz, and Christian became obsessed with the spontaneity and scope of this art form. He fell in love with vocalists like Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan, and players like Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Bud Powell and the like. Expressive ballads, in particular, have influenced his music. Just listen to a take like “I can’t give you anything but love” or his own composition, “Lost without you,” and you’ll hear the behind-the-beat sadness of Billie Holiday and the heart-string-plucking minor melodies of Chet Baker—all over lush guitar harmonies of the jazz greats. These days, Christian can be found playing in restaurants and cafes from Massachusetts to Long Island. At last we have a recording of this inspired musician—“Smile.”
