简介
Tony Kerr moved from Derry City, Ireland, a place rich in oral tradition, to Nashville, a place known for nurturing songwriters and artists, in 1997 with his wife and young son. His modern tenor voice is a combination of power and tenderness that touches the soul with its unique tones and absolute clarity. It is a voice full of emotion, capable of invoking anger or moving you to tears. At the heart and soul of Tony's songs, there is a strong sense of place, a sense of both longing and belonging. Tony's songs have been covered in his native Ireland (Mary Black), Australia and the US. Dig Deep is Tony's second album. HIs first, Back There, was released in 2004 to critical acclaim. Steven Sheehan grew up in New Bedford, MA, moving to Nashville in 1983. He immediately got a touring gig as an acoustic guitar player, traveling extensively through the US, Canada and Europe with artists as diverse as The Judds, Great Plains, Alison Brown, Randy Travis, Andrea Zonn and Trisha Yearwood. Years later, he made the move from road musician to session player, and never looked back. Songwriting came off the back burner at the same time. Specializing in acoustic guitar, he has played on recordings ranging from Kathy Mattea to Ian Tyson; Dierks Bentley to Patti Page. In 15 years as a studio guitarist, he's played on thousands of sessions. As a songwriter/publisher, Steven has had songs recorded in the US, Europe and Australia, including cuts by Sissel, Claire Lynch and Hal Ketchum. Tony and Steven met about six years ago, discovering they had much in common: they were neighbors, they both had sons growing into young men, their wives were friends and they both loved songwriting, acoustic music and whiskey. They began writing together swapping stories, weaving them into songs. After years of friendship and a trip to Ireland to perform, they decided it was time to make a record. Their Celtic and folk influences blend seamlessly together in a cache of original songs that mine the human condition. The result easily combines their Irish heritage and American sensibilities. Dig Deep was recorded live in March 2011 at the Home Place at Mill Creek, in a beautiful and natural setting, a place special to both of them. It was recorded simply--two guitars, one voice--no overdubs or studio tricks. The project was engineered and mixed by Rob Matson and mastered by Ray Kennedy. "Tony Kerr's beautiful voice, once heard, never forgotten. A touch of earth and sky in his music, always makes you stop and listen" Gerry O'Beirne, Songwriter, Ireland "Exquisite and wise, Tony Kerr's Dig Deep delivers a full grown man's understanding of how ordinary life gains a bit of mythic beauty. 'Whiskey and Wood' and 'The Prayer' are immediate classics. Sometimes all we can do is put the right syllables on sorrow. Kerr's got a few to share." Alice Randall, Author "The Wind Done Gone" "Gorgeous melodies, cut-to-the-heart lyrics and beautiful, delicate acoustic arrangements, all rendered with a voice that could make Vince Gill jealous. Tony Kerr's Dig Deep does just that, not soon to be forgotten." Stephen L. Betts, Journalist AOL Music "Dig Deep is achingly beautiful! The songs flow like a picture book while the guitars pulse beneath. 'Don't Lose Faith', 'Beautiful World' and 'Back Where the River Flowed' are stand-out tracks. Sally Barris, Singer/Songwriter
