简介

Cherry white are a band who put their own unique twist on an art form that has come to influence so many lives in the last century, an art form that is constantly evolving while holding on to it's influences; an art form that takes 4 individuals and their history and influences, their passions and fears, and throws it out into the world in the form of music. On a balmy summer night at a central London blues jam, four individuals who never met were about to ignite an ambition and start something very special. "The Spice of Life" blues jam is a night, and a venue, that has gone down in the history of music in the UK with everyone from Bob Dylan to the Sex Pistols having played the venue (under whatever name it held) at one time or another. On this night it was a fairly quiet start to the weekly jam, with some soulful blues being played on stage. "Newport Bob", who ran the night, was doing his usual fine job of matching players together to entertain the nights patrons. He called up a couple of regulars for the rhythm section, a drifter who had been stood at the back of the room all night, and a singer who had her name put down by her drunken friends. Little did any of them know that this would become something more than an impromptu jam. The chemistry was palpable as they ripped through an up tempo version of Howlin Wolf's "Killing Floor" and the obligatory "Johnny B. Good". Over the weeks the regular jam would become a pilgrimage for the four members, sometimes playing together, sometimes playing with others, but always remembering that chemistry that started it all. And they were able to build up a rapport as they played together more and more and started playing more challenging material. As months rolled on they decided to move up a gear and record a debut EP of 5 original songs, Cherry White was born. From there the path was clear, they were a band, and they were intent on making their own statement in the world of rock 'n roll. A grueling period of gigging commenced playing all over London, playing anywhere they could, developing a style and feel that was all their own. And as they were starting to make their mark, they were starting to write differently too. the material was being worked on at gigs, developing and mutating into something new. They were writing songs that contained many styles, but also offered something different. They were writing riffy rock songs, acoustic ballads, tender gospel and near prog epic pieces. These songs were developed in front of audiences, they were evolving and making an impact. Finally, after all the work, Cherry White decided to go into the studio to record their debut album. They knew they wanted a raw feel, something that echoed their live sound and that was more immediate and vital than the EP. It was decided that all the songs of the album would be recorded in 2 days. Without the luxury of time they knew they'd have to tap into their own resources of emotion and passion in order to make the album work. So that is how it was, 4 people in 1 room for 2 days, and in the early hours of the morning the last notes were played by tired hands and last strains of tired voices died down to leave Cherry White clutching their album ... This is "129" Oliver Arditi - " ... great hooks, loads of energy, an irresistible groove, and the sheer, undeniable f**k-off-ness of it!" Speak in to My Good Eye - "Cherry White succeed where so many have failed in their first recorded forays in not letting their many talents and influences funnel through one outlet and instead focus on each singular idea to comprise a complete thought."
