A tremendous story of overcoming life’s struggles, Tru Vocalz, is a singer-songwriter from Philadelphia captivating fans with his unique vocal range and pure sound. Diagnosed with a chronic disease at the age of 2 years old, Tru Vocalz found educating his community and writing poetry became his musical medicine. Having a knack for songwriting Tru Vocalz often lends his gifted pen to other local artists and organizations. During his time at the legendary Sigma Sound, Tru Vocalz worked for Boyz II Men producer, Durrell Bottoms, developing a new music scene in Philadelphia. He also developed a relationship with Bryshere Gray, better known as “Hakeem Lyon” from Empire and Tone Stith songwriter and producer for Chris Brown. Spending time with local musicians and artists, Tru Vocalz created Tru Talent Entertainment as a pro-bono service to help develop underprivileged and underrated artists in Philadelphia. There he recorded and engineered albums, provided album artwork and music videos for free. He believed in the true support of Philadelphia artist. An artist of many roles, Tru Vocalz credits his musical foundation to being raised in the essence of Old School Doo Woop and R&B. Son of Vernon Sawyer of Blue Magic and songwriter Carol Davis, this authentic artist stays true to his roots with a modern urban flare. Mixed in with an explosive stage presence and a 3.5 vocal range, Tru Vocalz has gained booking and radio play at Berklee Music Center in Boston, Temple University, World Café Live and streaming sites such as Pandora, Spotify and Apple Music. A true gentleman with a bad boy edge Tru Vocalz coined his stage name through the preference to limit any vocal alteration and keep his vocals organic when recording. Getting the chance to work in the presence of his living inspiration Justin Timberlake, Tru Vocalz learned his love for music and life lives in each lyric.
