But we enter a new millennium with a growing awareness of the power of colour in our environment. The colours we wear and surround ourselves with at home and at work can be calming, uplifting, alerting, or stimulating, and tuning in to these messages of light is an important part of our development. The subliminal effects of colour were no mystery to artists like Matisse, Monet and Van Gogh, and there are many references to the healing powers of colour in past civilizations. We now know that the ancient Egyptians used light, colour and sound to heal in their temples. The sooner we embrace a true understanding of colour and bring it positively into our lives, the sooner we can all begin to benefit from its healing qualities.
