There is so much more to King Rome than this simple title. Yes, music is his passion. He has been a musician since childhood, playing bass guitar, drums and keyboards. King Rome, born Darrell Jerome Helen, a Texas native, has honed his skill to becoming a multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, composer, producer and engineer. He studied at Media Institute, a school of recording arts in Dallas. Original at his core, King Rome comes to the table with a charismatic persona and a very unique distinctive style of music, giving you a blend of groovin' funk, a tinge of jazz, and smoove R&B. He was influenced by legendary artists like Rick James, Curtis Mayfield, George Clinton, Bootsy and the legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson. He has built his sound on that foundation, giving you an old school feel with a new school twist. His music encourages men to be men as he states in songs entitled "Get me grown man on" and "Pull yo' pants up and put yo' gators on." King Rome's stylish demeanor also conveys an aurra of class which permeates in his music, giving you a positive and very motivating experience. He is actively creating and composing original material in the studio and finishing the final touches on his debut album. Creating soulful sounds is the focal point of his career as he continues to carve his own unique path through the music industry.
