Insistent on integrity and overwhelmed with talent, Moso’s self- titled, first album is an exhilarating, cool display that rages seriously, dangerously, thick and unruly, and finally cough’s up something so raw and pure, like a pearl grown inside for years. Honoring MC5 and the Stooges, Moso’s more dense and expansive than punk. Indie-smart, but not geeky. Hard and heavy, but not metal. Dark, but not sad. It’s a full revival of the classics that’s hard categorize, but easy to sniff out influences from Fugazi to the earliest waves of grunge heard in the earliest Pearl Jam demo tapes. Moso also finds the same spirit as the Black Keys and White Stripes. Not to mention, creatively on par with Dinosaur Jr. and Chapel Hill bands - Sonic Youth. Throw in Pavement and the Archers of Loaf to the mix, but with way more balls and attitude. And sneering. Though the band’s only album, Moso’s not just a project or an experiment, but an exploration. A journey thru the empty spaces of life & music, yelling into the caves and filling the void with furious guitars. Never overproduced, yet intricate enough to exploit the generous, and timely, bursts of layered riffs and solos. Vocally, each of the 3 rotating lead men have powerful voices with plenty to say. The lyrics are primal, leaning heavily on the sentiments & sounds of regret, disappointment, frustration and resilience. Flexing their maturity, these guys have ability to write and perform these emotions, expressing their brains and restraint, not anger. This is Moso, packaged loud, full, long and stacked. The foundation’s laid, the roof's burned down, and the door’s have been left wide open for this exploration to continue…in any direction.
