简介
Quiet Fire was first conceived in 1971 in Hampton, Virginia at Hampton Institute by Philippe Fields (sax), Maurice Unthank (piano) and Oscar Jai-Tee (congas and percussion) who were first a talent show band on campus and became very popular and started doing club dates in the area. Though they played many arrangements of cover tunes, their original material became the most requested. Soon Quiet Fire was opening act for such groups and musicians as Roy Ayers, Ramsey Lewis, Angela Bofile, Peabo Bryson, Lou Donaldson,Stanley Turrintine,Freddie Hubbard and Dexter Gordon just to name a few. During this time Philippe was also a music educator, teaching atNorfolk State University,(director of Jazz Studies),and taught classes in Jazz Theory,Melody and Improvisation,Progressive Harmony,Jazz History and Composition, and Arranging/Songwriting. He was also Director,Compser-Arranger and Leader of the four performance groups at NSU. He was Instructor of Saxophone and Director,Composer Arranger of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble at Hampton University. In 1986 Quiet Fire recorded their first album, Night Scene It included all originals -- vocals and instrumentals -- but never made any real noise. In 1996,The God\'s Love Never Fails project came together by accident. Larry Bolin, the owner of DJ\'s Music and Video in Norfolk, Virginia, was looking for a group to record. As the Lord would have it, we found each other. By then Phillipe was the only surviving original member and he teamed up with Sheryl A. Chapman-Morse who did the vocalizing. Philippe won two honorable mention awards in the 2006-2007 UNISONGsongwriting contest. In the Jazz Instrumental Catagory thesong \"Tabu\",from the \"Night Scene\" project and in the Gospel/Christian, the song \"Love Never Fails,\"from the \"God\'s Love Never Fails\" project. He also won first place in the C.M.E.Church song contest for \"best Seasonal song for his Easter Song \"The Silence of The Lamb\" I believe this song tells how I would have been thinking and feeling if I could have been there to see Jesus from the time of His arrest in the garden and then, THE EMPTY TOMB!!! Thanks to the blessing and grace of God, we now have \"God\'s Love Never Fails\". We hope that the music ministers to your spiritual needs in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. we are availiable for concerts, clinics and workshops,etc...
