I was bitten by a dragonfly last summer. They are in me now and told me to call my new album Dragonfly. In the 12 songs on Dragonfly you will hear traces of Cole Porter show tunes mixed with folk music, rock, blues and the jazz standards. Dragonfly has simple love songs like "Always Kiss Goodnight" and "Moopy Moo," written to my wife, Amy Lynn. But her father died last year, and out came "Dead End Road" and "Ghost Town." If an artist is supposed to show you his heart, mission accomplished.

Dragonfly is my sixth album, and I wanted it to be as close to a solo effort as possible. It features my voice, on lead and harmonies, and my guitar work. Sometimes it's just the Martin acoustic guitar, but many songs have precise layers of acoustic and electric guitar with every tone I could get. Where needed, I got impeccable bass tracks from Ali Che Ree and Ben Rophie. Kelly Rucker plays harmonica on "Little Red Wagon," my homage to Bo Diddley. Cathty DeWitt sings on the jazz duet, "Likes Me," which was co-written with Amy Lynn.
