The Flying Mangos are an acoustic-based band whose music takes you on a tour of the rhythmic traditions of Latin America, New Orleans, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Our rhythm section consists of a bass and two percussionists playing everything from hands drums and symbols to shakers and clave sticks.

For instrumentation, our songs feature a 9-stringed Cuban armonica guitar, a banjo, a ukulele, a 10-string jarana ukulele-guitar from Mexico, and a Cuban tres guitar with three sets of double strings, acoustic electric lead and bass guitars, topped off with recorders and wailing saxophones. Our stage set looks like a museum from a warm happy island. That’s how we like it.
