简介
In the field of techno, it's clear that when it is done right it's done magnificently. And what Martin H & Andy Weid have provided is a sumptuous trio of groove-laden 4/4. With a pedigree that has seen them collectively work with some of the leading names of techno & house over the years - including Samuel L Session, Oliver Klein & Behrouz, it's clear they're not too shy from providing such exquisite work. 'Memories (Part 1)' is a grandeous piece to start; the opener brings starkness but warmth and simplistic but tempestuous depth. With a distorted kick to lead and a heavily fitered pad shimmering through the warm bass it retains beautiful width and atmosphere throughout. 'Memories (Part 2)' on the other hand, replaces this trembling sparseness with constancy in its tight groove. The thumping drumline is helped along by a droning, warped bassline reminding us strongly of the Baron himself (the maestro Dave Clarke of course). It's easy to miss the hidden subtleties for concentration on such tight rhythm - which hug the more repetitive bottom-end sequence tightly. To see in this accomplishment, 'Hollow' - which it is far from! - lends itself to more thick, bassy drums, snappy snares and engimatic bass work. Hi-hats and woodwork click in and out at off tilt times, whilst distorted vocal stabs pulse rapidly from ear to ear with well executed automation keeping the pulse of the bass carrying yet another sublime track.
