A little boy sits at the top of the stairs. He is supposed to be in bed, but he can’t help but be drawn to the toe-tapping, lush sound of twin fiddles and a steel guitar coming from his parent’s party music down below. As the music lilts, a new love is born. Fast forward 30 years and that little boy is now a grown man at the top of the Canadian country music scene. He has married, his wife also an accomplished vocalist. Together, they dream about playing the music they love and creating a new traditional sound of their own. The Western Swing Authority is the product of that very dream. The Western Swing Authority is Shane Guse (fiddle, vocals), Stacey Lee Guse (vocals), Ed “Pee Wee Charles” Ringwald (steel guitar), Dan Howlett (fiddle, vocals), Paul “Chappy” Chapman (guitar and vocals), Matthew Lima (stand up bass) and Jimmy Boudreau (drums). This stellar cast of musical peers and friends not only share a common love of Western Swing music, but together create a sound that fuses the old with the new, paying homage to the roots of traditional music in their own “new classic” original songs.
