Will Gaines is what's been missing from mainstream music. Specifically, he's one half of Gmusic by The Gaines brothers, a duo that has natural talent coupled with keen knowledge and a bona-fide understanding of how to create musical masterpieces from start to finish, utilizing nothing but their creative minds. Will sings, raps, and writes all of his material. He plays the bass guitar in a way that makes you realize and appreciate all that the bass guitar has to offer. He can also pick up a trumpet, has knowledge of the piano, and can vocally harmonize with the best of them. Will's upcoming project titled “ The Pursuit of Happiness”, is his first solo album that illustrates his vocal and writing abilities. Will and Lamar, the other Gaines brother, wrote and produced Will's solo album in their studio from start to finish. But everyone fortunate enough to have heard it will tell you it sounds just as good as everything that’s hot on the radio right now. Or bette Will grew up in Cleveland, OH surrounded by music. With his father being a professional and well-respected bass player and his mother a music educator, music was literally his first language. His mother and father gave him jazz and classical edification, school and pop culture provided him with everything else. Will has been singing for as long as he remembers, attended a performing arts school, and from the time he was old enough to, has supported himself financially by entertaining others with his musical talent. Will does not hesitate to admit that music is literally all he knows. When asked what he would be doing if he weren't supporting himself with his talent, he's perplexed and can’t answer. It's clear by his inability to answer that question that he’s never even considered another profession. After finishing school, Will felt as if he grew as much as he could grow as an artist and a musician in Northeast Ohio. Without hesitation, a car was packed up and he and his brother left Cleveland for Los Angeles. As luck would have it, their car broke down during a stop in Phoenix, AZ, and from that moment on their lives would never be the same. They stayed and after a few years of living and learning, Will began building what has become a highly-acclaimed entertainment reputation in Phoenix. Will describes Phoenix as “his training ground, a city that has the west-coast vibe without being the beast LA can be”. In addition to being a solo recording artist, co-managing Gmusic while singing background vocals and playing bass for national artists, Will also runs a jazz fusion band with his brother named Unlimited that is a quartet of Piano, Bass, Saxophone, and Drums. The members of Unlimited have been playing together since their early years in Cleveland. The fact that he's been playing with the same artists for the better half of his life speaks to his loyalty and belief that he is stronger as part of a group, surrounded by people he can continue to learn from. Will admits that it's likely that if he left his team to pursue a solo career earlier, he may be further along on his path, but definitely not as strong and prepared. Now that he's grown to be the musical force he is, LA no longer seems like a monster waiting to attack, but the last undertaking he needs to embark upon in order to be the music industry power-player he was born to be. Ultimately, Will leads by example and strives to be an efficient decision-maker. Plain and simple. Not because he’s hungry for power, but because he knows what it takes to be able to make positive changes in the entertainment industry and society as a whole. Will Gaines is on his way.
