简介
"This album was recorded live at 1am on Saturday morning, August 4th, 2012 during the Jumptown Swing Dance Society's 10th annual 'Canberräng' festival. I have been hanging out with and playing for the Canberra swing dancing crowd since 2008 and in that time I have been made to feel as much a part of the Canberra swing dancing community as any dancer, despite having never 'swung out' in my life. I have enjoyed attending numerous exchanges, house parties, after parties, after-after parties, balls, after-after-after parties, socials, classes and even weddings not only as a performing musician but just as 'one of the crowd'. "There is one thing that has always stood out to me though, I have often heard my dancing friends say that while on the hunt for new songs to dance blues to, they would regularly buy a whole album to find that only a small number of the tracks on it are really suitable for blues dancing. My good friend Tim Jones - who has been very patient while helping me understand what makes blues dancers tick - gave me the idea a few years back of doing an album aimed specifically at the blues dancing crowd. I had stored this idea in the back of my head until it finally occured to me when invited back to play at last year's Canberräng blues after party that I could record a live dance gig and release an album of live songs just for blues dancers. "My intention with this album is to give blues dancers everywhere something that they can put in their CD player, hit play and just do what they love without having to worry about the probability of the next song being at least 250 beats per minute. I also hope that everyone who listens to this album whether they dance or not, will be able to hear, feel and share the wonderful atmosphere that we all enjoyed together that night. In the immortal words of the Spice Girls - If you can't dance to this I can't do nothin' for you, baby." Jonathon D.
