简介
John Davey is a young, male singer-songwriter from the midwest. I know there are a lot of these types out there, but Johnny here is worth a closer look if you are a fan of honest songwriting with pop sensibility in indie folk. Normally a solo performer, John has put together filled out versions of his songs for The Homely Seed EP. Equipped with drums, bass, horns, pianos, and vocal harmonies, John has managed to transition his songs effortlessly into dynamic full band arrangements. Leading the way the entire time is his voice and his melodies that catch you and stick with you. “All the Rigors of Wanting to be Wrapped Up” even begins a cappella before the rest of the band bursts in, one of the heaviest parts of the EP. “Our Name Shall Be Revenge” is the strongest track on The Homely Seed EP. It is absolutely a pop song. It starts simply enough with just acoustic guitar and accordion, and then the bass and drums kick in as the vocals float over top. The track plays with dynamics for a couple verses before the payoff where John sings the title of the track and his voice really shines. - Mostly Midwest
