I figured I would address the current economic climate with an inexpensive offering of six high-quality songs, packaged in a slim, eco-friendly jacket. These songs mainly come out of the experience of five months in Toronto studying Political Theory at U of T, looking at the U.S. from outside (I'm from Tucson, AZ), getting drunk on Danforth Avenue, living, and loving. I went for a more stripped-down sound this time, prioritizing the rich sounds of my guitars, the lyrics, and above all the vibe of each song. I'm very proud of it. Accompanying me on drums and accordion is Gary Mackender (of the Carnivaleros), Sabra Faulk and Nick Augustine on bass, Heidi Wilson on alto sax, AmoChip Dabney on soprano and tenor sax, Laura Kepner-Adney and Caroline Isaacs (of the Silver Thread Trio) on harmony vocals. "Love's so..." is yet another sweet acoustic testimonial to Love (with an affectionate nod to Barack Obama); "Free and Brave" a rootsy reflection on the essence of being American and suggesting we walk our talk regarding freedom and bravery; "At Night" a reggae-influenced essay on the unconscious race/class thing still sadly pervasive in the U.S.; "White Cathedral" an acoustic meditation from the heart of Winter; "Danforth Stumble" a drunken swamp-lounge b**ch session with a surprise spiritual-uplift ending; "Wake Up, Rosie" a new arrangement of a women's prison song from Angola Penitentiary in Louisiana, dedicated to the 2.5-and-growing million human beings currently incarcerated in the American prison-industrial complex.
