简介

Halloween is begging for better music to accent its season. Have you ever looked for good Halloween music, only to find cheap display cases full of spooky sound effects and compilations that all include “The Monster Mash”? Ick. Halloween deserves more. Kristen Lawrence, a classically-trained organist who has always loved the Halloween season, has created original Halloween Carols to start a lasting tradition of high quality celebrating. Her enchanting music for October and Halloween is timeless and beautiful, yet catchy and clever. It will make your ears want to dance with one another and make your blood thump through your veins in utter glee. This 5-song E.P. is the first release from Kristen’s upcoming publication and recording of her “Halloween Carols – Volume One” – due Halloween 2009. After graduating with her degree in Organ Performance and Pedagogy, she put her personal studies of the history and origins of Halloween in the foreground, writing music inspired thereby. Kristen has over 50 Halloween carols and songs written and will release them in several volumes. With influences from … - Gothic metal - Centuries of folk tunes - Symphonic metal - Baroque organ music - Medieval chant - Romantic waltzes - Renaissance dances … this CD will haunt your spirits with beautiful, intense, otherworldly music for celebrating Halloween the entire month of October. “Arachnitect” – a spider song with a wicked, little harpsichord spindling through it. Electric guitar and bass (played by riff-genius Jamie Glaser) create quirky spider sounds and also give the song its rock edge. Singing spiders dangle during the interludes, singing flies buzz in harmony, and full strings spin silky harmonies throughout. Complete with a “silent-film-esque” chase scene across a web! “Blood Waltz” – a lush, rich vampire waltz. Pipe organ and strings dance together in elegant, macabre harmonies. Vocals cover a range of blood topics, from celebrating the “range of rust flavors: O positive! O negative! Oh the potpourri of A and B!” to “plasma TVs” and “hemo-goblins.” Reminiscent of grand, aristocratic balls during the 19th century. “Ghost of John” – a haunting American folk tune and verse from the 1800’s. Kristen puts some serious skin on this skeletal melody – four additional verses and two different arrangements. “Bare Bones Version” showcases the glorious, bare cathedral organ with ghostly vocals singing in tight harmony. “Dead Composers Version” expands and develops the organ, vocals and themes with full strings and an organ fugue in the middle.
