简介

Blurt Magazine - The Tremors "Old-Fashioned Hillbilly Feud" Hailing from the unlikely rockabilly hotbed of Greensboro, NC, the Tremors commenced operations about a decade ago and have since amassed a sizable international following. The album titles telegraph the aesthetic: Scourge of the South, Invasion of the Saucermen (which came with 3-D artwork and accompanying glasses), Demon Boogie Fever. Likewise for this new one, which marries classic Sun Records sides and other ‘billy heroes of that era to more modern hiccup ‘n’ twang as practiced by the Reverend Horton Heat, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Deadbolt, etc. From the opening salvo of the riotous “Cabin Fever” and the feverish romp that is “Delirious” to the raveup shuffle of “Mean As a Snake” (about, incidentally, one of those dark-haired tattooed beauties your mama always warned you about) and the tenderly-rendered cover of “Wreck of the Old 97” that closes the set, the trio doesn’t waste a sec in waving the rockabilly flag high. Jimmy Tremor (guitar, vox), Slim Perkins (upright bass, vox) and Stretch Armstrong (drums) are all about efficiency and economy; only one of these dozen tunes runs more than two minutes, and the whole thing clocks in at just 22 minutes, making for a no muss/no fuss experience. It’ll have you shakin’, shiverin’, shimmyin’ and shootin’ for the moon, no lie. Renegade Magazine - The Tremors "Old-Fashioned Hillbilly Feud" The Tremors are back after a long break from thier last cd released in 2009 . They show they haven’t slowed down bringing a Hi Flyin’ Hillbilly Fuse’d Rockabilly disc called “ Hillbilly Feud “ it features 12 tracks of fun . If you enjoy the traditional Rockabilly sound of the mid 50’s that was real raw and TWANGY this one will be right up your alley ! The title track “ Old Fashioned Hillbilly Feud “ is a humorous tune that rips along nicely with a hillbilly beat , The track “ Mean as a Snake “ feels like something that could have been recorded at Sun Records back in the day and will keep you boppin . Another song that is one you should tune up is the song “Why I Cry” with a hint of that train sound you find in early Johnny Cash work . This disc flys by fast and leaves you wanting more . You can pick it up on-line at www.tremorsrockabilly.com. Slam's Reviews - reviewsbyslam.blogspot.com - The Tremors "Old-Fashioned Hillbilly Feud" When it comes to a** kickin' rockabilly few bands can match The Tremors or as some people call them "the Scourge of the South". If your not familiar with them ,well let's just say they play a brand of ragged and fast rockabilly with a some fuel injected hillbilly and a little trailer park attitude thrown into the mix . The bands last release was the stellar "Demon Boogie Fever" and that was back in 2009. Now after 5 years the band has released "Old-Fashioned Hillbilly Feud" their 4th and arguably best album yet. This is one full throttle blast of fun that crashes in with 11 original tracks and 1 cover that will color you impressed. As in the past, The Tremors don't dick around here and as a result this puppy clocks in at under a kool 24 minutes. Highlights include:" Cabin Fever" , "Delirious", "Means as a Snake" and "Bundle of Nerves". Old-Fashioned Hillbilly Feud may be a short album for some but it really does pack a hell of a punch. This is great rockabilly that's raw, rough, kool and refreshing.T he Tremors are a band that has always delivered the goods, refuses to be boring and as they say : always leaves you wanting more. Highly Recommended https://www.facebook.com/the.tremors http://www.tremorsrockabilly.com/ No Depression - The Tremors - "Old-fashioned Hillbilly Feud" by DC Larson Jimmy Tremor (nee Gardner), leader of North Carolina's hell-bent hillbilly rockers the Tremors, has ensured that they varied little over the course of 10 years and five CDs. There was and is no need. A backwoods Americana visionary, Tremor was onto something good from the start. The feral cats howling at the fractured, midnight blood moon, from the red clay tobacco roads of America's lost hick-dimension, have stayed true to Jimmy's original plan, and on Old-Fashioned Hillbilly Feud, we're the beneficiaries! There has been one change, and a hale one, at that. The Tremors have grown more confident and able with each exuberant waxing. Drummer Stretch Armstrong and slap-bassman Slim Perkins wreak one of the surest and most frenetically rollicking rhythms on present offer. The two rock-ribbed stalwarts have been at Tremor's elbow since 2004 debut Scourge of the South. Tremor's own jittery, impassioned, psychologically-tilted hayseed implorings -- punctuated now and again by strangled yelps recalling Hasil Adkins -- and white lightning-speed treble note squallings reach ever-higher plateaus of backwoods psychosis. (When he stalks the bass strings, you'd swear that Grady Martin had lost his religion.) Much strength lies in the songs themselves. Most of these feral, amphetemine juggernauts eclipse the finish line in less than two minutes. Their minimalist constructions allow for unloosed rocketship delivery. If you haven't yet dug The Tremors' trademark moonshine-gassed, streamliner boogie, people get ready. The train is comin'! Recommended tracks: "Old Fashioned Hillbilly Feud," "High Time," "Why I Cry," "Cabin Fever," "Wreck of the Old 97"
