简介
Spur of the Moment, Out of the Shadows The group’s second album is in more of a cool, old school R&B chill mode than Spurradict, but no less compelling or seductive. While the centerpiece of the 13-track set is guest star Maysa’s dreamy lead vocal on the sensual “Longer Than Forever,” there are a lot of other key moments that make this disc a can’t miss addition to any urban jazz lover’s collection. Out of the Shadows opens in a laid back mode on the appropriately titled “EZ Street,” which showcases the sweet sax passion of Brian Lenair, then gets in the mid-tempo groove on “In Key,” whose soulful and jazzy melody is carried by Kenny Allen’s always spirited keys. Allen quickly adds his lush vocals to the set on the gently swaying ballad “In My Corner.” Wayne Bruce gets in on the action soon thereafter as his crisp electric guitar lines drive the easy grooving, old school R&B flavored “Midsummer’s Night Breeze.” The vibe stays laid back till the punchy, sax driven “Mo Betta Dayz” and coolly grooving, perfectly titled “Party Vibe” spark a high energy mood change in the mix. Out Of The Shadows wraps with a tender, bluesy rendition of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.”
