by John D. LuerssenWhat Syracuse, New York-based emo rockers Long Since Forgotten lack in originality, they make up for with ability on the Ed Rose-produced Standing Room Only. While vocalist Josh Coy is a capable singer, he has a penchant to whine anonymously on overly dramatic fare like "10:18, Press Return," and "Don't Ask Why." Musically, the band stops midway between the accessibly melodic charges of Jimmy Eat World and The Starting Line. Yet for all the cliches, LSF does serve up one bona fide hit contender with the winning allure of "The Language of Nature." Elsewhere, the reflective, genius stroke "Euclid Crashed" sees Coy come up aces again in a duet with Ettison Clio's Stephanie Gunther, but it's too little to proclaim the disc a total triumph. Just the same, Long Since Forgotten's generic approach to an increasingly predictable musical style will probably keep them on the touring circuit for quite awhile.
