简介
Ryusuke Tanaki and Library, a four-member band formed in 2013 and based in Tokyo, will release their second album "BAUM" on May 24, 2024 on their own label, their first in six years. They play strange pop music that is close to everyday life, and the singles they have released have been picked up by Spotify's official playlist "Edge!" and are steadily increasing the number of addicts. While responding to current US indie music, this album has an airy feel that freely moves between psych, folk, West Coast, and South American music. He is also heavily influenced by Japanese music from the 70s. One of its charms is the patchwork-like chorus work that takes advantage of the four different voices. Vocalist Tanaki is in charge of all songwriting, but the arrangement and sound production are an accumulation of the free and eccentric ideas of the four members. The album features 10 richly colored songs created by dubbing vocals, guitar, piano, harmonium, etc., either at home or at a rehearsal studio in the city, to the rhythm track recorded at Seno's studio in a detached house in Kawasaki. Mixing and mastering were handled by Soichiro Nakamura (PEACE MUSIC), known as the engineer for works by Shintaro Sakamoto and OGRE YOU ASSHOLE. The album title "BAUM" means tree in German. As a symbol and guidepost of "wisdom" and "life force" to survive the turning point of civilization and era. Also, the members like Baumkuchen. We have completed a confident work that has a fresh groove of the Tana Tosho sound expressed by the current four members. I hope that this record will be able to spread its wings across the ages and to various places.
