简介
With a dad who was a former member of local gospel group, "The Gospelaires", she is no stranger to the sounds of gospel music. In the home is where she was introduced to the likes of The Williams Sisters, Canton Spirituals, and Lee Williams. She accredits her grandmother to introducing her to one of the purest voices in gospel music, Deborah Barnes. According to the Asheboro native, it was the voice that drew her to singing. "Deborah's voice is so pure, so angelic", she says. "I always tell people if you want to hear what heaven sounds like, listen to Deborah Barnes. I imagine it sounds something like that." Although gospel music is what motivated Brittany to sing, in her earlier years she desired to be in a girl group similar to TLC or Xscape, with the style of Aaliyah. She started a 3-member R&B group where she began writing her own material. She states, "We didn't sing outside of the school hallways, but we did receive a ton of requests to sing for teachers and fellow students. We even got to sing The National Anthem a few times over the intercom before morning announcements." In 2014, Brittany released her very first EP, God's Got It. She describes the process as "just getting her feet wet." "People from church and friends would throw out the idea that I should record music, so I gave it a try and I enjoyed it." It afforded her the opportunity to be featured as Local Artist of the week, for more than one week, on popular radio station 97.1 WQMG. Now 29, Brittany is working on a new project where people can expect a "more mature" sound which will be released later in 2017.
