"Here I Am" was written by singer/songwriter, Julie Wilde, from Savannah, GA , as an entry song for the 2007 American Idol's Songwriting Competition. Julie met that season's American Idol Finalist, Stephanie Edwards, also from Savannah, when they teamed up for Stephanie to record Julie's inspirational song, "On Our Way" for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Light the Night Walk" in the summer of 2007. When Stephanie heard a demo of "Here I Am", she fell in love with the song and she and Julie added her voice to the track played by some of Nashville's finest musicians. Stephanie premiered the song in her opening act for a Roberta Flack concert in Savannah, in February, 2008. "Here I Am" made it's national television premier when Stephanie sang it for an episode of American Idol Extra airing Spring, 2008.
